BITSAT Exam:

BITSAT, also known as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test is one of the most prestigious exams in the country.

On the basis of BITSAT scores, candidates are granted admission in integrated first-year degree programmes at BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses.

BITSAT exam consists of questions on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning.

This year (2016) around 2,00,000 students registered for around 2,000 seats.

BITSAT Colleges and Courses Offered at Various BITS Campuses:

Birla Institute of Technology and Science - Hyderabad, Goa, and Pilani accept admission based on BITSAT scores.

Admission to BITS, Dubai Campus is solely based on scores in the 12th standard qualifying exam. Admission is open to students of all nationalities.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Eligibility:

The candidates who have cleared their 10+2 examination from affiliated state board or central board with minimum 75% in aggregate of PCM/PCB with at least 60% in each subject Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology.

For BITSAT 2017, the applicant should have either passed 10+2 exams in 2016 or should be appearing in 2017.

Students can attempt BITSAT for a maximum of 2 times.

B.Pharm
Candidate should have passed 10+2 exam from recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Mathematics and proficiency in English.

All Programmes except B.Pharm
Candidate should have passed 10+2 exam from recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and proficiency in English.

Direct Admission to Board Toppers:
Students who have secured first-rank in central or state board in India can get direct admission in BITS Pilani campuses, in a course of their choice. Their admission will be irrespective of the scores or rank obtained in BITSAT. However, they must fulfill other eligibility conditions.

Students who are presently studying under any of BITS Campuses are not allowed to appear in the exam.

BITSAT Exam Schedule:

This year the BITSAT online tests were conducted from 14th to 28th May, 2016.

How to Register/Apply for BITSAT Exam?

Steps for applying for BITSAT are mentioned below:

- Visit the official website of BITS - www.bitsadmission.com.
- Candidates need to register by filling in the mandatory details.
- Login and fill educational qualification and other personal details as mentioned in the form and select preferred centre.
- After filling the form, pay the application fee online through Debit/Credit Card/Internet Banking.

BITSAT Exam Syllabus:

The BITSAT Exam is broadly based on the syllabus for XIth and XIIth class. Candidates appearing for the entrance exam can refer to NCERT textbooks for preparation.

According to experts, this year's BITSAT exam was of moderate level. While according to the candidates, Chemistry was the most easiest and scoring section, Mathematics was the toughest section, and Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning were moderate.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Physics Syllabus:

Physics section is usually moderate and quite scoring.

Some important topics in Physics are Units & Measurement, Kinematics, Newton's Laws of Motion, Impulse & Momentum, and Work & Energy.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Chemistry Syllabus:

Chemistry section is usually easy to moderate and easily scoring.

Some important topics in Chemistry are States of Matter, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure, Thermodynamics, and p- d- and f-block elements.

BITSAT Exam 2016 English Proficiency/Logical Reasoning Syllabus:

English Proficiency/Logical Reasoning section is usually moderate in nature.

Some important topics in English Proficiency/Logical Reasoning are Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Composition, Verbal Reasoning, and Nonverbal Reasoning.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Mathematics Syllabus:

Mathematics section is usually moderate to difficult in nature.

Some important topics in Mathematics are Algebra, Trigonometry, Probability, Vectors, Statistics, and Linear Programming.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Biology Syllabus:

Biology section is usually moderate in nature.

Some important topics in Biology are Genetics and Evolution, Structure and Function - Plants/Animals, Ecology and Environment, and Biotechnology and its Applications.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Pattern:

BITSAT 2016 exam question paper included a total of 150 questions to be completed in 3 hours.

All questions were objective MCQ's with four options each.

Marks scored for every correct answer +3. For each incorrect answer, negative marking of -1 mark.

Additional Questions in BITSAT:
If a candidate answered all 150 questions in 180 minutes, he/she was given an opportunity to attempt additional 12 questions within those three hours. These additional questions included 4 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics each. However, any candidate who chose to answer these extra 12 questions was not allowed to go back to the original BITSAT exam and make any changes in the 150 answers he/she answered previously.

BITSAT Exam 2016 Cutoff:

The cutoff of BITSAT 2016 is the minimum score that has to be obtained by candidates to be eligible for counselling procedure.

Factors like number of applicants, number of seats, and difficulty level play an important role in determining the BITSAT cutoff scores.

The cutoff scores vary course-wise and campus-wise.

BITSAT 2016 Cutoff:

At the end of Iteration I, the lowest cut-off for admission into any program other than B. Pharm - 307.
At the end of Iteration IV, the lowest cut-off for admission into any program other than B. Pharm - 297.
Lowest cut-off for admission into B. Pharm - 248.
