NEET Exam:

NEET 2017 Eligibility:

Eligibility for NEET depends on the following factors:

Age:

Applicant must be at least 17 years old as on December 31, 2017. The age limit is 25 years for general and 30 years for SC/ST/OBC category candidates. There is no attempt limit till the age of 25 years.

Candidate must born on or between:
(a) 01/01/87 to 01/01/2001 (SC/ST/OBC Category)
(b) 01/01/92 to 01/01/2001 (Other Category)

Educational Qualification (Percentage in 10+2):

General - 10+2 or HSC with minimum 50% in PCB.
OBC/SC/ST - 10+2 or HSC with minimum 40% in PCB.
PH/PWD - 10+2 or HSC with minimum 45% in PCB.

Nationality:

Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) are eligible for appearing in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).
In addition to the eligibility criteria, as mentioned above in Point 8, following is also required for 15% All India Quota: Students from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J & K are NOT ELIGIBLE for 15% all India quota seats as these States had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If they claim eligibility, they must submit online Self Declaration which will be generated and printed automatically alongwith confirmation page for the record and to present during counselling.

NEET 2017 Schedule:

The Phase 1 exam was held on the 7th of May, 2017 and Phase 2 exam on 24th July, 2017.

- Read the important instructions and complete the online registration. Carefully note down the registration number.

NEET Exam Syllabus:

The NEET syllabus is recommended by the Medical Council of India.

The syllabus is based on Class 11th & Class 12th PCB chapters and topics.

It consists of four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany.

The NEET syllabus is prepared after reviewing various state syllabii as well as those prepared by the Council Board of School Education (COBSE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT).

NEET Physics Syllabus:

Class XI Important Topics: Physical World and Measurement, Laws of Motion, Kinematics, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, and Oscillations and Waves.

Class XII Important Topics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, and Electronic Devices.

NEET Chemistry Syllabus:

Class XI Important Topics: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, s-Block Element (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals), Some p-Block Elements, Organic Chemistry-Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Hydrocarbons, and Environmental Chemistry.

Class XII Important Topics: Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, p-Block Elements, d and f Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, Polymers, and Chemistry in Everyday Life.

NEET Biology Syllabus:

Class XI Important Topics: Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, and Human Physiology.

Class XII Important Topics: Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, and Ecology and Environment.

NEET 2017 Exam Pattern:

- NEET paper consisted of 180 multiple choice questions with a single correct option, to be completed in 3 hours time.

- Questions are asked from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology).

- It was a pen and paper test where students had to mark the correct answers in OMR sheets.

- Candidates can opt for Question Paper either in English or in Hindi.

NEET 2016 Exam Cutoff:

Cutoff scores are qualifying marks which must be secured by candidates to qualify the entrance exam. Based on the cutoff score the examination authority prepares the merit list and candidates are called for counselling.

According to the official prospectus of NEET, in order to qualify NEET 2017, a candidate belonging to unreserved category have to secure a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET, while, a SC/ST/OBC candidate have to obtain 40th percentile. In respect to physically handicapped candidate, the minimum percentile is 45th.
