AIIMS Entrance Exam:

AIIMS MBBS exam is a national level undergraduate medical entrance test, conducted to offer admission in MBBS programme.

The entrance exam is conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi).

Total number of seats in 7 AIIMS institutions located across India - 672.

This year the exam was conducted in 154 cities across the nation.

AIIMS 2016 Eligibility:

Eligibility for AIIMS, depends on various factors such as:

Age Limit -

- Candidate should have attained or will attain the age of 17 years as on the 31st of December of the year of admission.
- Candidates born on or after 2nd January 2000 were not eligible to apply for AIIMS 2016.

Educational Qualifications -

- Candidates who have appeared or appearing in class 12 under 10+2 pattern or an equivalent exam from a recognized university/board of any Indian State.
- Candidates must have passed individually in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology during their 10+2.

The minimum aggregate of marks in ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY obtained in the qualifying examination -

General and OBC - Minimum 60%.
SC/ST - Minimum 50%.

Nationality:

- Candidates must be an Indian national.
- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates who are registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are also eligible to appear in AIIMS MBBS 2016. OCI candidate have to submit proof of Registration to appear for the exam.
- Foreign national candidates nominated by the Government are not required to appear for AIIMS MBBS 2016 exam. They will be eligible for admission to MBBS course only at AIIMS, New Delhi.

There are no specific number of attempts for AIIMS. Candidates are allowed to apply as long as they are eligible.

AIIMS 2016 Schedule:

The application procedure for AIIMS MBBS started on February 15 and the entrance exam was held on 29 May, 2016.

The admission form for AIIMS 2017 will be available from either January or February, 2017 and the exam is most likely to be scheduled in May, 2017.

How to Register/Apply for AIIMS Exam?

Steps for applying for AIIMS entrance exam:

- Visit the official website - www.aiimsexams.org.
- Applicants need to register by filling in the necessary details.
- Login and fill the personal, qualification, internship details as mentioned in the form.
- After filling up the necessary details applicant is required to upload their recent passport size photograph and signature in JPEG format and submit the form.
- Pay the application fees.
- Applicants are required to keep a copy of the receipt for further reference.

AIIMS Exam Syllabus:

The questions asked in the exam were as per the CBSE board 11th and 12th syllabus, and as per the syllabus notified by the Medical Council of India.

AIIMS Physics Syllabus:

The important topics include - Wave Motion, Circular Motion, Optics (wave optics), Heat and Thermodynamics, Current Electricity, Electro-Magnetic Induction and Altering Current, Solids and Semiconductor Devices, Modern Physics, Magnetic effect of Current and Magnetism,
X-Rays, Laws of Motion, Electrostatics, Electromagnetic Waves, Gravitation, Nuclear Physics, Dual nature of Matter, and Atoms and Nuclei.

AIIMS Chemistry Syllabus:

The important topics include - Molecule and Chemical Bond, Periodic Properties of Elements, Chemistry of Elements and Compounds,
Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Isolation of Elements, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Equilibrium, p Block Elements, s Block Elements, d- and f-Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Alcohols, Phenols, and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids,
Organic Compounds containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, Polymers, Mole Concept, Thermodynamics, Transition Elements, and Chemistry in Everyday Life.

AIIMS Biology Syllabus:

The important topics include - Reproduction, Internal and External Regulators of Growth and Development in Plants, Genetics and Evolution (Fundamentals only), Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology: Principles and its Processes, Ecosystem, Ecology and Environment, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, Histology, Anatomy and Physiology of Plants (Meristems-Plant Growth and Development),
Reproductive System, Developmental Biology, Diversity of Animal Life, Botany and Human Welfare, Internal Structure of Stem and Secondary Growth, Xylem and Phloem (their Cell Elements and Functions), Internal Structure of Dicot and Monocot Leaves Photosynthesis,
Transpiration and Respiration, and Tropic and Turgor Movements.

AIIMS 2016 Exam Pattern:

- AIIMS MBBS entrance exam 2016 was a computer based test with 200 multiple choice objective type questions and reason-assertion based questions, to be completed in 3 hours and 30 minutes.

- The question paper was available in both English and Hindi.

- Total number of questions: 200 (Physics: 60, Chemistry: 60, Biology: 60, and General Knowledge: 20).

- Each right reply gets 1 mark and 1/3 of the marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

AIIMS 2016 Exam Cutoff:

AIIMS, New Delhi has defined the standard of cutoff for its MBBS entrance exam and as per the same:

Cut-Off for General 50%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 45%, and SC /ST 40%.

Method of determining merit: Overall merit by merging of percentiles of total scores of both shifts (First and Second).

Method of resolving ties -

In the following order:
Percentile in Biology
Percentile in Chemistry
Percentile in Physics
Seniority by age

AIIMS MBBS merit list is prepared only for those candidates who qualify the test. As per the rank, candidates are called for the counselling process.

Counselling is organized in offline mode at AIIMS, New Delhi. All candidates will have to attend the counselling process as per the schedule announced.
