- The exam consists of 90 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions).
- The questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Aspirants can appear for the exam in Hindi or English (candidates can select the option while filling the application form).
- The exam is conducted both, online & offline mode for the duration of 3 hours.
- 4 marks for each correct response and 1 negative mark for every incorrect response.

JEE 2016 Advanced Exam Pattern:

- There are two question papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 of 3 hours each. Both papers are compulsory.
- Each question consists of 3 separate sections - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

- This exam has 3 sections consisting of different types of questions.

Section 1 has 10 MCQ-s, each question has 4 options with only 1 correct answer.
Section 2 has 5 MCQ-s, each question has 4 options with 1 or more correct answers.
Section 3 has 5 questions with single digit integer ranging from 0 to 9.

- +3 for each correct answer and -1 for an incorrect answer. (Note: Negative marking is not applicable in certain sections.)

JEE 2016 Exam Cutoff:

- Cut-off is the minimum number of marks that is required by the candidates for appearing in the second stage that is JEE Advanced.

- It is decided keeping various factors in mind such as cutoffs for last year, the total annual intake for the year, exam difficulty level, and total number of candidates who have taken the exam, etc.

- CBSE issues JEE Main Cutoff to restrict number of candidates for JEE Advanced.

- Only top two lakh candidates from JEE (Main) 2016 will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2016.
