Physics PROPERTIES OF MATTER - SOLID

Modulus of Rigidity `(eta)`

It is the ratio of tangential stress to shearing strain within proportional limit.

`eta =` (Tangential stress)/(shearing strain)

`eta =(F/A)/(theta) = F/(A theta)`

`eta = (Fd)/(A Delta L)`

It is also called shear modulus of rigidity or just Shear modulus.

Its `S.l.` unit is `N//m^2` or Pascal (Pa).

Relationship among the Elastic Constants

`Y=` Young's Modulus
`eta=` Modulus of Rigidity
`K=` Bulk Modulus
`mu=` Poisson's Ratio

Relationship between `Y` and `eta` `=>` `Y=2eta(1+mu)`

Relationship between `Y` and `K` `=>` `Y=3K(1-2mu)`

`text(Relationship among the constants )`

`Y=(9etaK)/(eta+3K)`
