Acidity of Terminal Alkynes :
Terminal alkynes are much more acidic than other hydrocarbons due to more electronegative `sp` hybridized carbon. The polarity (acidity) of a `C - H` bond varies with its hybridization, increasing with the increase in `%` `s`-character of the orbitals : `sp^3 < sp^2 < sp .` See Table.
